You may access information about the YDS second generation surveys in two ways. Domain List: To see the questions asked in each variable domain (for example, education, employment, etc.), click the section title below under each wave's codebook. You can see each of the question(s) and response options. By clicking on the specific questions that interest you, you will reach the cross-waves listing to find the waves (years) it was included in the survey. Cross-wave Variable List: Or you can go directly to the links on the left side of this page to examine the availability of the questions across waves. You may then click on the section number (e.g, E1) for each wave to see the actual questions asked and the response options. ***The second generation cross-wave variable list includes the information about the availability of same/similar questions in the original cohort surveys. When the relevant data are available, there is a link in the column "Orig. Cohort?". By clicking the link, you will be guided to the corresponding part of the cross-waves listing of the original cohort surveys. The YDS is a public use data set, available from the Inter-University Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR) at the University of Michigan: https://www.icpsr.umich.edu/web/ICPSR/studies/24881. If you have questions, contact Jeylan Mortimer (morti002@umn.edu). |
Wave 4 is newly documented, and we are in the process of ensuring links are working properly for these data.
If you have difficulty locating variables, we would appreciate your informing LATIS Research ( latisresearch@umn.edu) so that we can correct the problem.
